Sales Tax

Learn how sales tax is handled on OnAnthem and what merchants are responsible for keeping up to date.

OnAnthem is the marketplace facilitator for orders placed through the platform. As applicable, OnAnthem calculates, collects, and remits sales tax on these orders. In most cases, you won’t need to calculate or file sales tax for orders placed through OnAnthem, though your specific obligations depend on your jurisdiction.

How it works

  • A customer places an order through OnAnthem.
  • Sales tax is calculated automatically at checkout, based on the items and the shipping address.
  • The tax is collected as part of the order total.
  • OnAnthem remits the collected tax to the appropriate tax authorities.

Your responsibilities

  • Keep your product tax settings up to date in your connected store, including whether each product is taxable and its product tax code.
  • OnAnthem uses these settings to calculate sales tax, so incorrect or outdated settings may result in the wrong amount of tax being collected.
  • Review your tax settings whenever you add new products or change your catalog.

Your payout

  • Sales tax is not included in your payout.
  • Your payout reflects the order amount, less applicable sales tax, payment processing, and the marketplace commission.

Refunds

  • If an order is refunded, any sales tax collected for that order is reversed as part of the refund.
